If you missed the dumpsters last month…

The City of Asheville will collect large items and appliances for the part of the Village that’s located in the city. Because of the availability and low cost (or in most cases, no cost) of this service, we may discontinue the practice of ordering dumpsters privately for the neighborhood. (Hillcrest and Lake residents, please contact the Enka Village Commission for options for disposal of your large items.)

Here’s the information from the City’s Web site:
Appliances
The City of Asheville collects appliances such as stoves, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washers, dryers, air conditioners, trash compactors and hot water heaters for a fee of $5 per item, which is assessed on a resident’s water bill. Call (828) 251-1122 to schedule appliance collection.
Bulky Item Collection
The City of Asheville will collect chairs, beds, mattresses and springs, sofas and other bulky items on request. To request collection of these items, call (828) 251-1122. Once you schedule collection, place the item(s) at your curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. Item(s) will be picked up within 7 working days.

Large Collections (moving in or out of a home)
The City of Asheville will collect large amounts of trash, such as from a move into or out of a home, ONE TIME ONLY. Call (828) 251-1122 to schedule.

Carpet Disposal

When disposing of carpet, roll and tie with string or twine (not wire) in 4 foot rolls and place at the curb. Call (828) 251-1122 to schedule collection.
