This weekend was a busy one in Enka Village! Several dozen households participated in the community yard sale Saturday morning. At 1:00 that day, a crowd of current and former residents attended the unveiling of the new Enka Village sign. In attendance were several of the A-B Tech students involved in the construction of the brick pillars, as well as Enka Village's very first resident, Betty Brookshire. We are all excited to have this permanent reminder of our community's presence and history! We will post pictures from the event soon.
On Sunday morning, the Asheville Citizen-Times front page featured a picture of resident Tom Lovingood. The accompanying article was about local mill villages and company towns, and Enka Village was listed as the best preserved of these areas. George Lancaster is also interviewed in the article, which you can find here: http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200770804043.
